SPIE Photonics West 2018: High-Performance Cell Diagnostics with Jenoptik’s Miniaturized Imaging Platform

With ‘SYIONS’, Jenoptik are broadening their extensive expertise in diagnostics and analytics solutions to include a digital image capture, processing and analysis platform that can be configured to the customer’s specific needs. Premiere at SPIE BiOS and SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco.

Jenoptik’s new solution ‘SYIONS’, a miniaturized modular diagnostic imaging platform, allows users to quickly and efficiently generate all types of image data from in-vitro diagnostics devices for use in scientific and clinical settings. SYIONS enables the quick and cost-effective implementation of applications in the areas of live cell imaging, flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics.

The modular system solution combines proven Jenoptik modules such as LED illumination, optical elements, digital cameras and auto-focus, as well as X/Y scanners, electronics, and software, to enable efficient imaging solutions that provide the user with images of the highest quality and ensure easy integration into the software system environment of medical or laboratory devices. Moreover, with Jenoptik’s own modular software, work processes and more can be performed consistently and efficiently across various operating systems. For instance, with the help of Jenoptik’s SYIONS platform, the examination of cells or tissue samples can be automated quickly and reliably. Devices are decreasing in size while, at the same time, performance data is improving and reliability is increasing. Due to the standardization of the individual modules, these devices can now be produced cost-effective in smaller production runs.

Jenoptik Showcasing Numerous New Products at Photonics West

Following a surge in demand over the past two years, Jenoptik’s Optical Systems division will cater especially to laser material processing market with a host of new and improved products in 2018.

Four new completely fused silica F-Theta objective lenses, a fused silica beam expander for high-power laser applications, and three new standard F-Theta lenses will be ready to go into production from January 2018.

The new designs boast improved VIS performance for visual monitoring of the manufacturing process in a range of 1030 to 1080 nanometers. In the 500 –680 nanometer range, lens transmission measures over 85 percent and enables direct process monitoring through a simple combination of image sensor and filter. Jenoptik Optical Systems, LLC triples cleanroom space to address increased global demand for optical systems.

25 October 2017, Jupiter, FL USA — Jenoptik Optical Systems, LLC, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance optical solutions, announces the expansion of its manufacturing operations in Florida. Jenoptik opened a new ISO 14644 Class 5 cleanroom with state-of-the-art filtration technology for high-precision optical assemblies to support applications with demanding cleanliness requirements like semiconductor and space flight instrumentation. Additionally, Jenoptik has extended site capabilities by investing in a new thermal vacuum chamber in the cleanroom. The Class 5 cleanroom complements the pre-existing ISO 14644 Class 7 cleanroom and triples the amount of cleanroom space in Florida.

Jenoptik’s continued expansion in Florida is the direct result of customer volume requirements for the company’s products. This new facility complements the cleanroom capacity in Huntsville, AL. Industry leader Jenoptik Optical Systems’ Microoptics business unit in Huntsville, AL is pleased to announce the offering of standard silicon optics solutions.

03 October 2017, Huntsville, AL USA — Jenoptik, a premier provider of industry leading solutions that solve multiple application challenges across numerous markets, announces the offering of quick turn silicon optics to future partners.

The new standard solutions offered by our Microoptics experts will allow customers to test development systems quickly and get to market with solutions in a fraction of the time required in the past. The three design offerings: Diode Coupler, Diode Collimator and Fiber Collimator will allow future partners solutions on many platforms in optical data transfer applications.

How did world class optics engineers watch the solar eclipse?

Almost like everyone else.

The total eclipse of the sun had everyone amazed and JENOPTIK was no different. Sr. Member of Technical Staff/R&D Manager, Tolis Deslis gazed and said, “The discoveries up there depend on passions down here.”

As America paused yesterday to watch a once-in-a-century astronomical event we safely took exceptional images through our JENOPTIK 105mm UV lens using a Baader UV filter with a modified Nikon D200 to allow UV images to be taken.

The images are in Black & White because the Ultra-Violet filter (265nm-365nm) only allows the lens to image outside the visible spectrum (400nm-700nm). Imaging in ultra-violet wavelengths with the JENOPTIK 105mm UV lens allows scientists and engineers to reveal features that are not present in the visible wavelengths.

Industry expert Jay Kumler joins 11 other nationally recognized OPI entrepreneurs, innovators, business executives and investors to the Luminate national advisory board.

11 August 2017, Jupiter, FL USA — The Luminate optics, photonics, and imaging (OPI) accelerator names Jay Kumler, President of Jenoptik Optical Systems, a premier provider of optical systems in North America, to national advisory board.

Luminate is a new $5M per year accelerator for OPI enabled startups. The organization is formally accepting applications from prospective companies with visionary entrepreneurs solving challenging problems including but not limited to: machine vision, inspection, biophotonics, security, surveillance, augmented & virtual reality, and autonomous vehicles. Teams will be competing for one of ten available slots in the first cohort, guaranteeing them a minimum investment of $100,000, and potentially as much as $1M. Luminate applicants must be incorporated, have a full-time team, should have proven their core technology, and preferably developed a working prototype.
