With polymer optics, in addition to the optical porperties, coatings also serve to protect the surfaces against mechanical, chemical, or other environmental influences and to improve their cleaning possibilities.

The peculiarities of plastic as a material and the fabrication via injection-molding call for consideration of the total process from the beginning of product conception.  Considerations must be made during component design, fabrication, coating, assembly, storage, packaging and transportation as well as for necessary measurement and testing technology.

Coatings for Polymer Optics

The application space for plastic optics is expanded through the use of coatings.
