Coastal projection system part of 2001 Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) winner

West Palm Beach, FL - The Rose Center for Earth and Space was presented one of the 2001 Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), announced in the June 25 issue of Business Week magazine. Encompassing 11 categories from business equipment to furniture and medical devices, the winning designs for both actual and potential products were chosen from 1,260 entries in the annual competition co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Business Week. IDEA 2001 drew a record number of entries in its 22nd year, reinforcing its reputation as the foremost recognition of excellence in industrial design

Coastal Optical Systems designed and built the dome projection system that is featured at the center of the Dynamic Earth Exhibit in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The dome projection system can be seen in the top of the photo which was published in the June 25 Business Week on page 72.

Coastal Presents Technical Paper on Optical Design at SPIE's Annual Meeting

San Diego, CA - Coastal Optical Systems presented a paper on "Comparative Performance Survey of Fish-eye lens designs" at the Lens and Optical System Design and Engineering Conference of the SPIE Annual Meeting. The paper was co-authored by Martin Bauer of Internet Pictures (Knoxsville, TN).

Coastal Delivers Projection Optics for American Museum of Natural History

West Palm Beach, FL - Coastal Optical Systems, Inc. designed, fabricated and installed the Dynamic Earth Globe Projection Optics to the American Museum of Natural History (New York). The custom design produces high performance imagery over a full 180 degree hemisphere. In order to meet the deadlines for the opening of the Hall of Planet Earth, the projection optics were designed and fabricated by Coastal Optical Systems in 12 weeks.

design and build V360TM, a 360 degree video camera to allow an unlimited number of viewers on a digital network to see real-time video images in a complete 360 degrees. Coastal Optical Systems' new design is the first lens of its kind to produce high performance imagery of a seamless, full 360 degree scene with no loss of content.
